Thanksgiving Message
To keep with the focus of this site, not only do we give thanks for the bounty that is America, but also for the decision made by our forefathers that allowed for this bounty to be created. Specifically, the institution of limited free market capitalism in the Plymouth colony in 1623. Contrary to anecdotal accounts, Pilgrims struggled to survive until the colony's governor, William Bradford, decided to end the practice of communal farming and provide each family with their own plot of land --- which led to a significant increase in overall production. For a complete summary see Steven Malanga's column on RealClear Markets or get the full story in Thomas DeLorenzo's book.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
