Examine Maryland's Millionaire's Tax
As Democrats attempt to pass a health care bill, passing the bill along to the rich, they would be well advised to examine how well that turned out for Maryland. Amazingly, there were 30% less millionaires in Maryland after they were slapped with a surtax. The above story from the Sun and this story both attempt to blame much of the decline on the recession. However, the economic engine of Maryland is the DC corridor, home to numerous federal government agencies (and associated contracts and consultants) is doing just fine in the recession. So, the questions Congressional Republicans should ask Maryland: Tax the rich ... how's that turning out for you.
